字面意思上看就是
“戴两顶帽子”，
但其实hat还有一个引申义
hat
used to refer to one of the various jobs or responsibilities that someone has
职位，职责
-This is me with my manager s hat on talking.
我这是以经理的身份在讲话。
比如说wear the hats of director and actress就是身兼导演和女主角两职。所以，wear two hats的意思就是“身兼两职”
由此我们拓展几个短语：
wear another hat 做另一份工作
wear more than one hat 身兼不止一个职位
wear many hats 身兼数职
wear the trousers
(especially of a woman) to be the person in a relationship who is in control and who makes decisions for both people
(尤指女性)掌权当家，占主导地位，在一段关系中能掌控一切或者有决定权(常被用来泛指有决定权或最后的发言权)。
-In China men usually wear the trousers at home.
在中国，男人通常是一家之主。
wear sackcloth and ashes
sackcloth是粗布衣，ash是灰，表面上是说一个人披麻蒙灰的样子，实际是指一个人为了表示自己道歉的诚意而穿着朴素，有点负荆请罪的感觉
to show by your behaviour that you are very sorry for something you did that was wrong
用你的举动表示你因为做了错事而极其懊悔，处于忏悔中
-I broke a vase and my wife made me wear sackcloth and ashes for a week!
我打碎了一个花瓶,我妻子让我悲切忏悔了一个星期!
wear thin
If your patience wears thin, you become less and less patient.
如果你的耐心wears thin，那就是说你逐渐失去耐心
-I ve warned you several times about being late and my patience is wearing thin.
我多次警告你不要迟到，我对你已经失去耐心了。
