616　skim，scan和skip

① skim和scan都可译为“浏览，略读”，但严格讲来是两种不同的快速阅读方法。scan是为了获得某个具体信息而浏览一遍 （find important or interesting information），相当于“查阅”，以找到想要找的内容，如查字典。skim指快速读过去，以得到主旨大意（main idea），阅读过程中对不重要的部分一扫而过，如看报纸等，相当于“翻阅”（without looking at details）。

He scans the papers for all presidential news. 他浏览了报纸，看看所有关于总统竞选的消息。

Astronomers scanned the sky for a sight of the comet. 天文学家观察天空寻找彗星的踪影。

Just skimming the paper，I came across the advertisement. 翻阅报纸时，我看见了这条广告。

This book is worth skimming through. 这本书值得泛读一下/浏览一下。

② skip意为“跳读”。

I'd skip this chapter if I were you. 如果我是你的话，这一章我会略而不读。
