词组讲解

1. get 〔have〕 the jump on sb. **抢先一步，赶超

解 习语；词义溯源：获得比某人［（在时间、距离上的）先发位置、有利的着手点（jump）］

例 Long before the embargo on this country was lifted, many businesses from its neighbors were getting the jump on other companies in this most lucrative markets.

2. get 〔have〕 the last 〔final〕 word **作决定性发言，说出最终意见；作最后决定

解 习语；词义溯源：获得［最后一句话、决定性的话语（the last word, the final word）］

例 I'll say that we accept your offer, but my acceptance is tentative. Mr. Lim gets the final word on all contracts, so I'll have to get back to you later this week after he has taken a look at it. I'm certain it'll be no problem.

3. get 〔have〕 the nod **被选中，得到认可

解 〈口〉习语；词义溯源：得到［点头、同意（nod）］

例 The manager is going to pick the new assistant. Tom is more likely to get the nod than other employees.

4. get the picture **了解情况，领会

解 〈口〉习语；词义溯源：得知（了解）［状况、事态、形势（the picture）］

例 She was sitting in the ice cream shop listening to music with her friends when he walked in. He was so tall, handsome and rough. Their eyes met and, well, get the picture? It was love at first sight.

5. get the red carpet treatment **受到特殊待遇或最高待遇

解 习语；词义溯源：受到［踏过高官出入口铺设的红地毯的待遇（treatment）］；参照give sb. the red carpet treatment和roll out the red carpet for sb.
