THE ARROW AND THE SONG 箭与歌

I shot an arrow in the air, 我向空中射出一支箭，

It fell to earth, I knew not where; 箭已落地，却不知其落何方；

For so swiftly it flew, the sight, 因速度之快，转眼即逝，

Could not follow it in its flight. 眼力跟不上它的飞翔。

I breathed a song into the air, 我向空中高歌一曲，

It fell to earth, I knew not where; 它落地无声，不知其踪；

For who has sight so keen and strong, 谁有这么敏锐的眼光和 听力，

That it can follow the of song? 能追上那飞扬的歌声？

Long, long afterward, 很久，很久以后，

in an oak, 在一棵橡树上，

I found the arrow still unbroke; 我找到了那支箭，依然未断；

And the song, from beginning to end, 而那首歌，从头到尾，

I found again in the heart of a friend. 我发现已落入朋友的心间。
