第36课 废弃的山庄

Sweet Auburn! loveliest village of the plain,

亲爱的奥伯恩！平原上最可爱的山庄

Where health and plenty cheered the labouring swain;

在这里，健康和充裕鼓舞着辛劳的乡村青年

Where smiling Spring its earliest visit paid,

在这里，微笑的春天最早来临

And parting Summer' lingering blooms delayed;

Dear lovely bowers of innocence and ease,

Seats of my youth, when every sport could please;

在那里，曾经年少的我，玩乐过每一项运动

How often have I loitered o'er thy green,

我曾在绿地上走走停停多多少个来回

Where humble happiness endeared each scene!

在那里，简单的快乐爱恋着每一处风景

How often have I paused on every charm;—

我曾为每一个迷人的景逗留

The sheltered cot, the cultivated farm,

遮阴处的小房子，灌溉的农田

The never-failing brook, the busy mill,

无尽的小溪和繁忙的磨坊

The decent church that topped the neighbouring hill;

正直的教堂坐落在临近的小山上

The hawthorn bush, with seats beneath the shade,

在山楂树的树荫下坐着

For talking age and whispering lovers made!

在爱谈笑的年纪轻声向爱人诉说

How often have I blessed the coming day,

我常常祈祷即将到来的日子

When toil, remitting, lent its turn to play;

那是跋涉、宽恕和借出归还物的日子

And all the village train, from labour free,

所有的山庄的火车，对勤劳的人都是免费的

Led up their sports beneath the spreading tree;

引领人们在枝繁叶茂的树下劳作

While many a pastime circled in the shade,

许多娱乐在树荫下进行

The young contending, as the old surveyed;

年轻人相互竞争而老人们做裁判

And many a gambol frolicked o'er the ground,

许多博彩在地上嬉戏

And sleights of art and feats of strength went round,
