1　family 意为“家庭，子女，家族”，由血缘、亲缘或某种关系组成，为集体名词；family 强调家庭整体意义时，谓语动词用单数形式，强调家庭每个成员时，谓语动词用复数形式。

She was born of a worker's family . 她出生于工人家庭。

His family is large. 他家是个大家庭。

His family are all well. 他的家人都很好。

She has a family of three. 她有一个三口之家。

2　home 意为“家，家乡”，指一个人出生和居住的地方（也许是帐篷或船等），带有感情色彩。

My home is in Nanjing. 我家在南京。

He left home ten years ago. 他10年前离开了家。

3　house 意为“房子，住宅”，强调建筑物，不带感情色彩。

4　hometown 意为“家乡”，指“家(home)”所在的地方，为永久居留地（但不一定是永久居地）。

My hometown is a beautiful small village. 我的家乡是一个美丽的小村庄。
