1　habit 指长时期逐渐养成的、一时不易改变的“个人的”习惯，如爱散步的习惯、饮茶的习惯等，结构为：

form the habit of doing sth.

have the habit of doing sth.

fall into good/ bad habits 养成好／坏习惯

He has the habit of going for a walk after supper. 他有晚饭后散步的习惯。

It is a bad habit . 这是一种坏习惯。

He smokes out of habit , not for pleasure. 他吸烟是出于习惯，不是为了取乐。

The man has formed the habit of smoking. （正）那人养成了抽烟的习惯 。

The man has formed the habit to smoke. （误） （habit后不可跟不定式 ）

2　custom 指某个“国家、社会、社会群体”经过一个较长时间过程形成的风俗或习惯，有时也可指个人习惯，且不像habit 那样容易丢掉，结构为：

It is one's custom to do sth.

It has become the custom for sb. to do sth.

It is their custom to eat dumplings on New Year's Day. 新年吃饺子是他们的风俗。

My father makes it a custom to take a nap after lunch. 我父亲养成了午饭后小睡的习惯。
