429　lay, place, put和set

1　lay 表示平放或横放。

He laid his hand on my shoulder. 他把手搭在我的肩膀上。

We laid a new carpet in the bedroom. 我们在卧室里铺上了新地毯。

2　place 强调将某物放在某一地点。

He placed a cup on the table. 他把一只杯子放在桌子上。

She placed the chair in the corner. 她把椅子放在角落里。

3　put 强调放置的动作，使用范围广。

She put too much salt in the food. 她在菜里放了过多的盐。

I put a notebook in my pocket. 我把笔记本放在衣袋里。

4　set 表示为某个目的而将某物放在一定的地点。

Set the table for dinner. 摆好餐桌准备吃饭。

She set a candle at each window. 她在每个窗边都放一支蜡烛。
