1　prefer 是及物动词，表示“宁愿，更喜欢”，有选择比较的意味，后必须跟宾语，有下面几种结构：

prefer sth. to sth.=like sth. better than sth.: 同……相比更喜欢……

prefer to do sth.: 宁愿／喜欢干某事 （表示特定的具体的某次动作 ）

prefer doing sth. to doing sth.: 同……相比更喜欢干某事 （表示一般倾向或习惯 ）

prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.: 宁愿干某事，而不愿干某事

I prefer tea to coffee. 茶和咖啡相比我更喜欢喝茶。（=I like tea better than coffee.）

He prefers taking a walk after supper. 他喜欢晚饭后散散步。

I prefer to go swimming this afternoon. 我宁愿今天下午去游泳。

I prefer to walk there rather than take a bus. 我宁愿步行去那里，也不愿乘公交车。

2　like 表示一般性的“喜欢，爱好”。

I like fishing. 我喜欢钓鱼。
