奥斯卡包含电影中的所有元素，所以也要评选最佳电影配乐。最终获得小金人的电影配乐即被称为“奥斯卡金曲”。但是除了电影配乐，奥斯卡还会评选最佳原创音乐以奖励对音乐界做出重大贡献的人，这个奖项未必是电影配乐。
