The widow of the well-known Chinese author Qian Zhongshu registered a "temporary victory" on Monday in her fight to prevent Qian's private letters from being sold at auction.

　　杨绛在之前的声明中表示，拍卖公司公开拍卖钱钟书私人书信的行为侵害了其发表权(right of publication)、隐私权(right of privacy)、及着作权(copyright)，将导致其受到难以弥补的损害。在接到杨绛的声明后，北京保利国际拍卖有限公司决定对钱钟书和她的三封私人书信撤拍(scrap/cancel the auction)。
