酷玩乐队的Clocks获格莱美最佳年度作品提名，但就是这首歌差点没有收进乐队2002年的专辑《A Rush of Blood to the Head》。值得一提的是，这首歌是乐队主唱Chris Martin的一首无心之作，真可谓“无心插柳柳成荫”。
与酷玩乐队的大多数作品一样，这首歌中充满了对比和矛盾。在不同的时间段，钢琴、鼓、吉他互相争执着要掌握支配权，把它们调和成曲一定很费功夫，但是却难以令人觉察。
最初这首乐曲是马丁在钢琴上即兴完成的。我们今天听到的成品中仍以钢琴为主旋律。其他成员在马丁优美旋律的基础上又增添了各自的主张，使Clocks不仅是一首动听的钢琴歌曲，而成为了一首与钢琴的主线相并列，包含着动态不安情绪的作品。
