Paddy: Yes, Shanghai is a great city.
Jim: What’s great about it?
Paddy: It’s a safe and clean place. There’s a lot of good restaurants and great nightlife. The former Frenchtown is nice, the architecture is cool – I think they have the second tallest building in the world across the water on the Pudong side – that’s worth checking out. And there are a lot of shops, and a lot of beautiful girls too…
Jim: Sounds fun! Where do you recommend shopping?
Paddy: It depends what you want. There’s some good markets. Try the fabric market for tailor-made clothes and Qipu lu is good for clothes too.
Jim: Is it cheap?
Paddy: Shanghai is not that cheap these days. It used to be, but now it’s on a par with the UK.
Jim: Yeah, since the pound fell….
Paddy: Yeah, but you can still get about(走动) on the metro and taxis pretty cheaply.
Jim:Can you bring me back some DVDs?
Paddy: No problem.
Jim: Thanks Paddy
