not to speak of意为“不用说”，相当于not to mention。但是二者并不完全一样：not to mention后面可以接句子，而not to speak of后面只能接名词或名词性短语。如：
We're too busy to take a long holiday this year, not to mention the fact that we can't afford it. 我们今年太忙，不能去度长假，更何况我们也出不起这笔钱。
The boy hasn't learned arithmetic, not to speak of algebra. 这孩子算术还没学会，更别说代数了。

与not to speak of和not to mention含义相近的短语还有much less，但是much less只能修饰带否定含义的句子，而not to mention则没有这个限制。如：
