有10个英文单词，可谓无人不知无人不晓。但是，这10个词，在笔者看来，却没有在大多数同学手中发挥出应有的功效。在中口笔译C-E部分中，它们频频出现，屡建奇功。可惜的是，这10个词，谁都认识，却只有少数人能将其用至化境。本文中，根据多年来的教学经验和对历年真题的深入分析，笔者将这10个词总结成文，一一详述用法，辅以历年真题中的相关例句，以期助考生一臂之力。
(1)see/witness
用法：无生命(时间、地点或事物)成分作主语。
经济年均增长速度达到 9.7%。(0303)
China's economy has witnessed a strong/an impressive growth rate of 9.7%.
本公司成立于1988年。(0409)
1988 saw/witnessed the establishment of our company.
古老而美丽的“丝绸之路”，谱写了中欧千年往来的美好篇章。(0509)

(2)enjoy/boast
用法：表示人或物“有”好的东西。
现代传媒在信息的传播速度上有许多优势。(0103)

公司拥有一大批技术人员和管理人员。(0409)
Our company boasts a large number of technical and managerial personnel.

(3)serve as sth/serve to do sth
用法：表示起到了某种功能作用，或者某物“能够怎么样”。关键是汉语原句中未必出现“起到…作用”之类的字眼。
西部大开发一定能成为沟通世界各国和中国的一座桥梁。(0303)
The Great Western Development is sure to serve as a bridge between China and the rest world.
广州市政府无疑起了“红娘”的作用(0809)
The Guangzhou Municipal Government served as the "matchmaker".
(4)attribute/ascribe/credit A to B
用法：表示因果关系，汉语原句中未必出现“因为”或“所以”。另，A和B必须是名词性成分。
中国的崛起，是和平的崛起，是依靠自己力量来发展自己。(0403)
China’s peaceful rise is attributed to its own strength/efforts.
这座城市特殊的历史和地理因素造就了一种多样化的文化(0503)
The diverse culture of the city is attributed to its special history and location.

(5)featuring/characterized by
用法：专门对付多重四字格结构，即“XXXX，XXXX，XXXX的什么”。
富有活力和长期稳定的合作关系(0509)
A partnership featuring/characterized by vigor and long-term/long-time stability
一座朝气蓬勃，充满活力，多姿多彩的国际大都市(0603)
an international metropolis featuring/characterized by vigor, vitality and variety.
(6)constitute
用法：表示某物被看成，认作，当成(to be or be considered/regarded as something)
这是…标志性成果，是…历史性跨越，是…重大贡献。(0803)
It constitutes the milestone, the historic advance, the momentous contribution.
(7)remind sb of sth
用法：某物让某人想起/想到/意识到某事。关键是，汉语原文中未必出现“回忆”或“回想”之意。
浦西展示了上海的辉煌岁月(0603)
Puxi reminds people of the city's glorious past.
(秒针)每移动一下就是表示我们的寿命已经缩短了一部分。(0903)
Every move of the hand reminds us that a portion of our life is lost.
说起上海老城，总会让人和古老传统的东西联系起来。(1009)

(8)concern
用法：该词在使用上的难点是含义及用法较为纷繁(亦即用处广泛)，要用心区分。
四种常用含义——关心，关注;关系，关联;担心，担忧;重要。
四种常用结构——sth concern sb，sth be the concern of/for sb，sth be of concern to sb，sb be concerned for sth/that clause
未来的城市生活与每一个国家及其人民息息相关。(0703)
The prospect of future urban life concerns every nation and its people.
外界关心的是：……(0809)
……It is of great concern to the outsiders / the public.
(9)access或have access to sth
用法：能够得到某物/见到某人/进入某地，可以代替can get sth之类结构。
……标志着我国已经进入世界具有探测能力的国家行列。(0803)
. .., which marks China's access to the ranking of the world's advanced countries capable of probing the moon.
(10)n
用法：不是某个具体的词汇，而是表示名词的n。用法相当广泛，在C-E部分中，同学可以牢记用n去作英语译文中各种成分(尤其是谓语动词)，可使译文结构紧凑、凝练，同时尽可能避免与大部分译文“撞车”。
本公司成立于 1988 年。(0409)
