    The United States has imposed sanctions on more Iranian interests because of its concern about Iran's nuclear activities. The US treasury said it was blacklisting a number of companies for contributing to what it said was Tehran’s effort to a acquire nuclear weapons. Washington said it had identified a number of front companies and banks that had allegedly helped Iran evade existing sanctions. Iran says its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

    United Nations helicopter gunship has opened gunfire on Tutsi-led rebels in Eastern Congo. A UN official said the attack against the M23 rebels took place in the north of the town of Goma close to the border of Rwanda. Correspondents say it is rare for the UN force in Congo to go on the offensive. The UN has accused Rwanda of supporting the M23. But in the BBC interview, the Rwandan president Paul Kagame denied any involvement with the rebels.

    "The only thing is about accusations, that they cannot substantiate , provide evidence for. They just make reports."

    "Could this support briefly be going on without you knowledge?"

    "There is no support like this is going on."

    "So, no renegade Rwandans in military officials helping..."

    More than 100 people have died and dozens of others have been injured after a petro truck crashed in the Delta region of Nigeria. The authorities say people rushed to collect fuel spilling from the tanker but then it exploded burning many to death. The BBC's Emika Idika went to the scene.

    An investigation into the case of a US college football coach who appraised sexually on use in his care has concluded that the senior officials covered up the abuse for years. A damning report by a former head of the FBI Louis Freeh found the officials and a famous head coach of the Penn State University were more concerned about avoiding back publicity than protecting victims. A former assisting coach of Penn State, Jerry Sandusky was convicted last month's 45 counts of sex abuse. Here is Paul Adams.

    The evidence which came to light during Jerry Sandusky trial in June was shocking enough, involving sexual assault of ten boys over a 15-year period. But Lewis Free's findings are damming too. So worried were senior university officials about the bad publicity that Pennsylvania State might be attracted if word ever go out about Mr. Sandusky's behavior that they simply covered it up all for years. Jarison who knew what Jerry Sandusky was doing with young boys when university property was too afraid to report this behavior to the authorities. It would have been one of them told the investigators like going against president of United States.

    Police in Brazil say 8 people have been shot dead in the town of Osasco in the Great Sao Paulo area. Gunmen on motorbikes and in cars opened fire as residents were celebrating the win of the local football team Palmeiras. Vanessa Buschschluter reports.

    The shootings happened in late of night as football fans were setting a fireworks and horning the car horns to celebrate their team's victory in the Brazilian Cup final. At first, police saw the shootings which happened in 5 different areas of the town could be linked to rival race between football hooligans . But they later said the gunmen had just taken advantage of the noise and confusion of the street parties to mask the sound of shot and make a get away.

    The Colombia airfore says it has found the wreckage of one of its planes which disappeared on Wednesday. The head of the airfore Gen Tito Pinilla said both crew members were dead. He said they located the wreckage and the body of on of the two pilots in Cauca province. Gen Pinilla said Colombia's largest rebel group, the Farc had taken the body of the second pilot.

    Two weeks before the start of London Olympics, the British government has been defending its security plans after having to call in thousands more military personnel to protect venues . The home sectary Tusisamei told Parliament Olympic security had been meticulously planned and was rebuzzed, but she said concerns had risen about the ability of contractor G4S to train enough staff. An extra 3,500 military personnel will be deployed.

    The American plane maker Boeing says it has secured an order from United Airlines for 150 of its 737 airliners in a deal was up to 15 billion dollars. The order comprises 100 of the new 737 Max 9 planes and 50 next generation versions of the aircraft. Boeing said it had now received more than 10,000 orders for planes from the 737 family.
