孙杨表示，在800米的比赛后就感到胸闷不适，半夜起来吃过药。自己在1500米赛前已经热身，但是心脏不适没有好转，为了保护身体决定退赛，回国后将进行全面检查。

宁泽涛与孙杨都是中国游泳队自由泳项目的中坚力量。本届世锦赛中，宁泽涛已经在100米自由泳的比赛中获得冠军，成为第一位在此项目中夺冠的亚洲运动员。

在本届比赛中，孙杨已经获得了400米和800米自由泳的金牌，以及200米自由泳的银牌。

Chinese swimming star Sun Yang gave up his chance to defend his 1,500m freestyle title at the Kazan world championships as the 23-year-old withdrew from the final minutes before it started on Sunday (Aug 9).

Sun wasn't introduced Sunday night along with the rest of the seven-man field.

Chinese swimming officials said the two-time 1,500m world champion had to miss the final due to heart discomfort.

Sun, the world record holder of the event, finished third in the heats on Saturday which was dominated by Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri, runner-up of the 800m free on Friday.

Sun claimed the 400m and 800m freestyle gold medals in Kazan and took silver in the 200m freestyle.
