Daily Dialogue
Asking for Directions
Fred: Excuse me, sir. Where am I on this map?
Policeman: We are here, Broadway Street.
Fred: Oh! I think I'm lost. Can I go from here to the Times Square .
Policeman: You can take bus No.36 from here, but then you have to walk about 5 minutes.
Fred: That doesn't sound too bad. How can I get the bus stop?
Policeman: Go straight ahead and across the square. It is just opposite a sort of, you know, a playhouse.
Fred: Oh, thanks.
Policeman: It's not far. Are you a stranger in New York?
Fred: Yes, I am. I arrived only three days ago from Japan.
Policeman: How do you like New York City?
Fred: I like it very much, but it's a little confusing to me.
Policeman: You'll soon get accustomed to it and like it.
Fred: Thank you for the information.
Policeman: Don't mention it.
