Good News and Bad News

Wendy： How was your day?

Peter： Let's start with you. How was yours?

Wendy： It's terrific. I'm eligible to the salary raise.

Peter： Good news. Were you asked for it?

Wendy： No. My boss told me that I work hard and good. So it was what I deserve .

Peter： It was nice of your boss, but my boss would never do that.

Wendy： Let's get back to you. How was your day?

Peter： It was horrible! It was just one thing after another.

Wendy： You look pretty upset. Are you OK?

Peter： I'm fine. But I have bad news.

Wendy： What's that?

Peter： I got sacked today.

Wendy： You're kidding! How did that happen?

Peter： Well, I was late to work today. It was the third time I was late this week.

Wendy： How late were you?

Peter： Only about 5 minutes.

Wendy： You got fired for being a few minutes late? Does he violate labor Act?
