    A suicide bomber has blown himself up inside a busycafe in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, at least 37 peoplehave died and more than 50 are injured. SimonPoncelet reports.

    The bomb exploded in a tea shop popular with the young Iraqis in a mainly Shia district of Amil.The BBC's Haddad Salih within Baghdad said it was a particularly cold blooded attack.

    The suicide bomber was carrying two bags and he managed to get into that tea shop as youngpeople were drinking tea and blocking...

    Distressed relatives have been gathering outside a hospital where the survivors have beentreated. The tea shop attack mounts another grim day for Iraq while the level of violence is atits worst for five years. Earlier in the day, suicide bombers attacked police, army andgovernment buildings in the town of Rawa and a home of a senior police officer in Samarra.

    The Afghan authority says an army special forces commander in eastern Kunar province hasdefected to an insurgent group taking his units guns and other equipment with him. AnbarasanEthirajan reports.

    The Afghan special forces commander in Kunar province Monsif Khan gave leave to all thesoldiers during the Eid religious festival and then escape to his team's guns, night-visiongoggles, binoculars and a Humvee track. Officials say Mr. Khan is the first special forcescommander to switch sides joining the Hezb-e-Islamic organization which carries out attacks onthe Afghan government and NATO-led forces. Security forces have launched a manhunt for themissing commander and tribal elders have promised to help.

    The widow of former President Tito of Yugoslavia, Jovanka Broz, has died in Belgrade at the ageof 88. After marrying President Tito in 1952, she travelled the world as Yugoslavia's glamorousfirst lady. From Belgrade here's Gade Lonnie.

    As a teenager, Jovanka Budisavljevic volunteered for the communist partisans fighting the Nazioccupation of Yugoslavia, that's where she first called Tito's eye and not just for her skills as asharpshooter.
