A:Did you read the letter in the paper about smoking? The person who wrote that must be crazy.

B:I don't think so.I think the govemment should do everything it can to discourage people from smoking.

B:我不这样认为。我认为政府确实应该采取点措施禁止人们吸烟。

A:Maybe so. But a law banning cigarettes would do no good.

A:可能是吧，但是制定禁止吸烟的法令不会有什么好处。

B:No.You can't suddenly make smoking illegal. But the government could prohibit smoking in public places like cinemas and thea-ters.

B:是的，你不能立刻就宣布吸烟违法，政府可以禁止人们在公共场合，如电影院和剧院吸烟。
