第一篇(对开型) 第四章(座头鲸)...这种鲸常见于北美洲沿海一带。它经常在那边被捉到后,拖进了港埠。它象一个行贩一样,背上有个大包袱;或者你不妨就管它叫象鲸和城堡鲸吧。总之,它这一公认的名称仍不足以区别出它的特点。因为抹香鲸也有个背峰,不过稍为小一些罢了。它的油并不很贵重。它也有须。它是一切鲸类中最爱玩和最快活的鲸,比之其它任何的鲸更会弄出花花哨哨的泡沫和白水来。
BOOK I. (Folio), CHAPTER V. ( Razor Back).--Of this whale little is known but his name. I haveseen him at a distance off Cape Horn. Of a retiring nature, he eludes both hunters andphilosophers. Though no coward, he has never yet shown any part of him but his back, whichrises in a long sharp ridge. Let him go. I know little more of him, nor does anybody else.
