(=not much/almost nothing 不多，几乎是没有的)

类似的词还有few，只不过little和不可数名词搭配而few与可数名词搭配。

如果我们想表达肯定含义的“少”，则应该用 a little

A little作副词

我们用a little来表示程度上的“少”，在使用上比a bit更正式

例：

He smiled just a little.

他只是微微一笑。

Her hands were shaking a little.

她的手稍稍抖了一下。

 

 

二、作形容词，修饰名词时

little作形容词时，它的意思和small一样。

例：

I know a little restaurant not far from here.

我知道离这不远有一家小餐馆。

那什么时候用Little，什么时候用small?

它们意思非常相似，但也有略微的区别。

在单指尺寸大小时，我们用small

而little除此之外，还包含有积极的情绪在里面(尤其在有一些美化的词搭配时)

例：

He’s a small baby. (He’s smaller than average.比平均值小)

He’s a lovely little baby. (He’s lovely and small.他小得很可爱)

There’s a wonderful little café a the end of the street. (比用 There’s a wonderful small café at the end of the street.更恰当。)

eat a little food，
