圣诞节刚过，

跨年也到跟前了

2020是个不平凡的一年

终于把它过完了

 

 

想约上好友一起跨年么?

发个短信拽一句英文问问

才发现

我不会表达“跨年”啊

 

 

其实

英语中并没有和“跨年”一一对应的词

我们口中所说的“跨年”

其实就是告别今天的最后一天

迎接新年的第一天

往往都会以参加一些活动的方式来度过

英语中通常会用

“celebrate New Year’s Eve”

来表达，

不是“Cross the year”哦

 

In the Gregorian calendar, New Year's Eve (also known as Old Year's Day or Saint Sylvester's Day in many countries), the last day of the year, is on December 31. In many countries, New Year's Eve is celebrated at evening social gatherings, where many people dance, eat, drink, and watch or light fireworks. Some Christians attend a watchnight service. The celebrations generally go on past midnight into New Year's Day, January 1.

在公历中，新年前夜(在许多国家也被称为旧历年或圣西尔维斯特节)是一年中的最后一天，在12月31日。在许多国家，人们会举行晚会来庆祝新年前夜，许多人在那里跳舞、吃饭、喝酒、看或放烟花。一些基督徒参加守夜仪式。庆祝活动通常在午夜过后持续到新年的1月1日。

与“跨年”这个概念也是不谋而合

顺便说一下，

“跨年演唱会”

可以翻译为

new year countdown concert，

如果想说

“我今天晚上跟朋友一起喝扎啤跨年。”

就是

I'm celebrating the new year countdown by drinking draft beer with my friends.

用现在进行时表示将来发生的动作。
