can't stand the sight of sb/sth

stand 一般表示站立，但是它还有一个重要的意思，表示“忍受”。stand 表示“忍受”时，用于否定句居多，can't stand something 就表示受不了某事物。can't stand the sight of someone 就是受不了看见某人，也就是“不想见到”的意思。
