after the usual hours of work
工作时间之后，下班后
这个表达在19世纪开始流行。它起源于政府通过某些法律来规范营业时间的行为。一旦企业打算关门，这个时间就变成了after hours。于是也就产生了“after-hours club (下班后俱乐部)”或“after-hours bar(下班后的酒吧)”这两个词，都是指在下班后或在工作时间结束后喝酒的地方。
 
I often do some of my own work after hours.
