Robin and Jordan are teenage girls. But they lived very separate lives until one day, when they discovered that they had something very special in common .

This chance encounter occurred on January 9, 2013, at a high school track meet in Washington D.C. where they both live . Jordan’s teammates were the first to notice. They told Jordan that a girl on the other team looked just like her. So she decided to go talk to this girl.

Jordan was adopted shortly after birth . She had known some details about her biological mother. For example, she knew her last name was Jeter. As the two talked to each other she discovered that Robin’s last name was Jeter too. At that point, she knew she was talking to her sister.

As a child, Robin was bounced around from her biological mother to foster care to a legal guardian and she had never heard about a sibling. The two girls were living in the same city for 17 years, but they never crossed paths.
