② capable表示做某事所必需的能力，侧重于有潜能或可能性，可指好事与坏事，语气比able弱，作表语时后接of（doing）sth.。

She is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. 她完全能够照顾自己。

③ competent着重具有胜任某项工作的技能或所需条件。
