37　agree，approve和consent

① agree常指原先有分歧，经过协商、讨论、思考后同意他人的想法、意见等，可作及物动词或不及物动词。

The teachers have agreed to the teaching plan. 老师们已同意这个教学计划。

They agreed on going. 他们同意去。

② approve表示认为某人某事是正确的或令人满意的，因而赞同或认可。approve是正式用词，一般是上级或权力机关对下级应用，表示“同意，批准，通过”。

I cannot approve of her marrying so young. 我不赞同她这么年轻就结婚。

The National People's Congress approved the report. 全国人民代表大会批准了这个报告。

③ consent通常指上级对下级的请求、建议、行动“同意、批准、赞成”，常同介词to搭配，也可接不定式。

His father will never consent to the marriage. 他父亲决不会同意这桩婚姻。

The principle consented to consider the request. 校长同意考虑这个请求。
