① destiny除了“命定难移”的意味之外，还常暗示“展望未来”。

Now we are masters of our own destiny. 现在我们是自己命运的主人了。

② fate表示“宿命”，有浓厚的神话或迷信色彩，常有无可奈何之意。

They ascribed the disaster to an unkind fate. 他们把灾难归之于命运不济。
