① doubt意为“怀疑，不相信”，即对某事持怀疑态度，对某种说法的可靠性表示怀疑，即认为可能不是事实。doubt通常含有否定意味，还表示“没有把握，拿不准”，其宾语可以是名词、代词或名词性从句。用于肯定句时，doubt后的从句用whether 或if 引导，用于否定句或疑问句时，doubt后的从句用 that引导。

I doubt the truth of it. 我认为这不真实。

I doubt her words. 我不相信她的话。

I don't doubt that he will come on time. 我相信他会准时来的。

I doubt whether/if it is true. 我认为这不真实。

② suspect意为“猜疑，猜忌，隐约觉得”，指行为者虽然没有足够的证据，但相信自己的怀疑是对的，猜疑的内容可能是事实。suspect的宾语可以是名词、代词、不定式复合结构或that从句，但不能是whether或if引导的从句。

He is suspected of telling lies. 别人怀疑他说谎。

She is suspected as an accomplice. 她有同谋的嫌疑。

They suspected him of murder. 他们猜疑他就是凶手。
