① 两词都可以表示事物之间的相似处或一致性。

② 两词也可指亲戚关系。

A relation of mine is coming to stay. 我有个亲戚要来暂住。

“What's your relation to her？”“She's my cousin.”“你跟她是什么亲戚？”“她是我的表妹。”

③ 若指强烈的感情关系，用relationship，若不强调个人关系或友谊时，可用relationship或relations （复数形式）。
