不定冠词a用在以辅音音素（并非辅音字母）开头的名词前；不定冠词an用在以元音音素开头的名词前。例如：

a boy　a student

a university　a unique person

an hour　an unkind old lady

a. An apple a day keeps the doctor away.　一天一苹果，医生远离我。

b. Old hen （母鸡）: Let me give you a piece of good advice.

Young hen: What is it?

Old hen: An egg a day keeps the ax away.
