13　before和ago

1　before 表示从过去某一时刻算起的若干时间以前，谓语动词用过去完成时。

She said she had visited Hangzhou three years before . 她说她3年前游览过杭州。

2　before 作副词也可单独使用，意为“以前”，句中谓语动词用现在完成时。

I have never met him before . 我以前从没见过他。

Have you ever been to Nanjing before ? 你以前曾经到过南京吗？

3　before 意为“在……以前”，指在某段时间或某一事件之前。

Wash your hands before meals. 饭前应洗手。

He arrived at the town before us. 他在我们之前到达了那座小城。

Pride goes before a fall. 骄者必败。

表示“在某人／某物的位置前”时，before和in front of可换用。

The children are playing before the classroom. 孩子们在教室的前面玩耍。

4　ago 表示从现在算起的若干时间之前，谓语动词用一般过去时。

He lived in Shanghai two years ago . 他两年前住在上海。
