1　a little 和a bit of 可以修饰不可数名词，常可换用，意为“一点儿，少量的”，但a bit 不可修饰名词。

He wants to borrow a little money. 他想借一点钱 。

There is only a little (of) water in the bottle.（正） 瓶子里只有一点水了 。

There is only a bit of water in the bottle.（正）

There is only a bit water in the bottle. （误）

2　a little 和a bit 都可以修饰形容词或副词原级，表示“有些，有点儿”，这时常可换用。a bit of 不可修饰形容词或副词。

他有点吃惊。

He is a little surprised.

He is a bit surprised.

她有点累了 。

She is a little tired.

She is a bit tired.

These shoes are a little too big for him. 这些鞋对他有点太大了 。

These shoes are a bit too big for him.

3　a little 和a bit 都可以修饰形容词或副词比较级。

He felt a little better today. 他今天感到好一点了 。

He runs a little faster than you. 他跑得比你快一点 。

4　a little 和a bit 都可作主语或宾语。

A bit is enough. 一点就够了。

I have only a little . 我只有一点。

5　强调“……中有一点儿……”，可用a little of+ 名词。

She knows a little of everything. 她什么都懂一点。

6　not a little 和not a bit 的意思正好相反。

（1）not a little表示“很，十分，很多的”，相当于very much。

The little girl is not a little clever. 这小女孩相当聪明。

She spent not a little on clothes. 她买衣服花了很多钱。

（2）not a bit表示“毫不，一点也不”，相当于not at all, not in the least。

He is not a bit tired. 他一点也不累。

7　little 和bit 也都可以作名词。little没有复数，bit 的复数是bits 。

He has done little today. 他今天没做多少事。
