1　expensive 意为“昂贵的，价高的”，指物品等的价格高昂，花钱多。

That's a very expensive camera. 那台相机非常贵。

The house is so expensive that we can't buy it. 这栋房子很贵，我们买不起。

2　dear 意为“贵的”，指要价超过正常或公平合理的价格，为英国用法。

I didn't buy the dictionary because it was too dear . 我没买那部词典，因为价格太贵。

Eggs are very dear this month. 这个月鸡蛋太贵。

The price is too dear . （误）

The price is too high . （正）价格太贵了 。
