1　likely 指从外表、迹象判断可能发生，表面看来大有可能。

The plane is likely to be late. 飞机可能晚点了。

Your words are likely to offend him. 你的话很可能会冒犯他。

Snowstorm is likely in the next 24 hours. 未来的24小时内可能会有暴风雪。

2　possible 指客观上有可能，但常暗示希望较小。

It is possible that he may succeed. 他也许会成功。

I found it possible for Mary to do the work. 我发觉玛丽可以做那工作。
