1　much 意为“非常，很”，用于修饰形容词或副词的比较级和最高级，位于定冠词之前。much 也可修饰动词。

We are much happier now. 我们现在快乐多了。

You should pay much more attention to your lessons. 你应该更加注意你的功课。

I don't much like her. 我不十分喜欢她。

Jim is much the brightest student in the class. 吉姆绝对是班上最聪明的学生。

2　quite 意为“十分，完全，相当，还算”，用于修饰动词或形容词原级。

I quite agree with you. 我完全赞同你的看法。

Are you quite sure? 你完全肯定吗？

He has quite the same ideas. 他有完全相同的看法。

She is quite a good teacher. 她是相当不错的老师 。

She is a quite good teacher.

3　very 意为“十分，非常”，修饰形容词或副词原级，不可单独修饰动词，但very much 可修饰动词。

It is very useful. 这很有用。

He ran very fast. 他跑得非常快。

She saw a very exciting scene. 她看到一个非常激动人心的场面。

I was very much surprised at the news. 我听到这个消息十分吃惊。
