1　earth 作“地球”解时，前面需加定冠词the 。earth 表示“人间，世界”时，为不可数名词，前面可用或不用定冠词。earth 表示“泥土，土壤”时为不可数名词。

The earth is bigger than the moon. 地球比月亮大。

He put the seeds in the earth . 他把种子放进土里。

She fell to (the) earth . 她摔倒在地上。

2　world 表示“世界”，指地球上的社会，有时指世界上的人。

She broke the world record in swimming. 她打破了游泳世界纪录。
