425　keep的用法

1　keep+形容词 表示“保持”。

Please keep quiet . 请保持安静。

Please keep healthy . 请保持健康。

2　keep+宾语+形容词（或介词短语等） 表示“把……保持在某一状态”。

He kept the room tidy . 他把房间保持得很整洁。

Keep your hands clean . 你的手要保持清洁。

Keep your books in good order . 要使你的书保持整齐。

Please keep the door open . 请把门开着。

She kept the window closed all day. 她整天把窗户关着。

3　keep sb. doing sth. 表示“让／使某人做某事”，只能用现在分词作宾语补足语，不能用不定式。

He kept us waiting for two hours. （正） 他让我们等了2个小时。

He kept us to wait for two hours. （误）

The heavy rain kept him staying at home. （正） 大雨使他待在家里。

The heavy rain kept him to stay at home. （误）

4　keep on doing sth. 和 keep doing sth. 均表示“继续做某事，反复做某事”，常可换用。

They kept on asking questions. 他们不停地问问题 。

They kept asking questions.

She kept on working far into the night. 她继续工作，一直到深夜 。

She kept working far into the night.

He kept on troubling her. 他老是打扰她 。

He kept troubling her.

①keep on doing sth.更强调动作的反复性或做事人的决心。

He keeps on phoning me, but I don't want to talk to him. 他老是给我打电话，但我不想同他讲话。

Though he has failed three times, he kept on trying. 虽然他已失败了3次，但他仍继续干下去。

②对静态动词，常用keep doing sth.结构。

He kept lying in bed all day long. 他整天都躺在床上。

She kept sitting in the room the whole morning. 她整个上午都在房间里坐着。

5　keep...from doing sth. 表示“阻止，使免于”。

Please keep the children from playing with fire. 请不要让孩子们玩火。

He kept them from fishing in the lake. 他不让他们在那个湖里捕鱼。
