if you think your future is dim and your hope is slim, don't lose your heart.
You never know what tomorrow will bring.
Having hope is easier said than done, especially when change doesn't seem to be around the corner, but keep in mind that caterpillars don't know they will become butterfly, but they never give up on growing into one.

简单讲解一下：
pathetic指可怜，病态，这里翻译成卑微。
status quo是life的“文艺说法”，表示生存现状，内涵较广。
future 可以用dim或者slim形容，表示前途渺茫。英文里面另有一个词可以表示前途，前景，即prospect，可是prospect更加的formal，不适和用来形容个人的前途。
hope可以用slim来形容，表示“一线希望”“希望渺茫”。
don't lose your heart，别灰心。
easier said than done，说起来容易做起来难。
never give up，永不放弃。give up on sth，放弃期待某事。
