The Lion and the Mouse 狮子和老鼠

Once when a lion was asleep, a little mouse began running up and down upon him. This soon wakened the lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him.“Pardon, OK?！”cried the little mouse，“Forgive me this time, I shall never forget it：who knows but I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?”The lion was so tickled at the idea of the mouse being able to help him that he lifted up his paw and let him go.

Some time after the lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon to carry him on. Just then the little mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad pIights in which the lion was, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the beasts.“Was I not right?”said the little mouse.

从前，当一头狮子正在睡觉时，一只小老鼠在它身上跳来跳去。狮子很快就被吵醒了，它用巨大的爪子按住老鼠，然后张开大嘴要把它吃掉。“饶了我吧，”小老鼠哀求道，“原谅我这一次，我将永远不会忘记你的大恩大德，说不定哪天我能报答你呢？”狮子听到小老鼠能帮到它，觉得十分好笑，就抬起爪子把小老鼠放走了。

没过多久，狮子落入了猎人的陷阱。猎人想活捉它，然后献给国王。他们把它绑在一棵树上，然后去寻找货车来运送。正在那时，小老鼠碰巧经过，看到狮子被绑，就跑上前去很快咬断了捆绑在野兽之王身上的绳子。“我说的没错吧？”小老鼠说。
