3 rural court yards with 24 rooms in Fangezhuang Village in Huairou District have been transformed into modern apartments designed for people working in the Huairou Science City. It is an effort made by the village to boost local farmers ‘income. Located in the core area of the Huairou Science City, the annual rent for each court yard is around 12,000 yuan, it will also create 5 to 6 job opportunities for local farmers. Currently, a number of research institutes are based in the Huairou Science City, their employees are expected to grow to 10,000 by 2025.

地处怀柔科学城核心区，怀柔区雁栖镇范各庄村正在尝试一条增收致富新路：改造农民闲置房屋，建设单身人才公寓，取名“科学家工作室”，为科学城提供配套。首批3套院子24间客房已经完成改造装修，即将迎来科研人员入住。按目前的市场价，一套院子含8个房间，租金可以达到12000元。同时，村里提供相关物业管理、园林绿化、街道卫生等岗位，还可以解决5至6人就业。截至目前，怀柔科学城已有超过5000名科研人员入住，预计到2025年，将达到一万人以上。
