March 12 marks Tree Planting Day in China. Residents are encouraged to take part in tree planting activities. Beijing has set up 17 tree planting locations this spring, offering a total area of 73 hectares for tree planting activities.  210 million trees have been planted through such activities since the festival was approved by the 5th National People’s Congress in 1979. From 1980 to the end of 2021, the capital's forest coverage rate increased from 12.83% to 44.6%, its urban green coverage rate increased from 20.08% to 49%, and its per capita public green space reached 16.6 square meters.

3月12日是中国植树节，今年春季，全市设立春季植树尽责接待点17处，可供植树面积1100亩。1979年，第五届全国人大常委会第六次会议决定每年3月12日为我国的植树节，自开展全民义务植树以来，北京已有超过1亿人次通过各种形式参加义务植树活动，植树2.1亿株。1980年到2021年底，全市森林覆盖率由12.83%提高到44.6%，城市绿化覆盖率由20.08％提高到49%，人均公共绿地面积达到16.6平方米。
