It's never too late to learn. 学习永不嫌晚。

My car broke down on the way and I arrived one hour late.

我车在路上抛锚了，因此迟到一小时。

He has made great progress in English lately.

他的英文最近大有进步。

hard/hardly

Mr. Yang is hard on his children. Mr. Yang对他的孩子很严格。

I pushed hard, but the door wouldn't open.

我用力推但门就是打不开。

She was so angry that she could hardly speak.

她气得几乎说不出话来。

Judy had gained so much weight that I could hardly recognize her.
