     The above table shows traffic accidents in a Chinese city in 2005. There are five types of traffic accidents, classified according to the main cause. In contrast to 2004, the numbers of four types of accidents went up in 2005, and only the number of one type went down slightly, showing a worsening situation overall.
     Of the four types of accidents that have gone up, the largest in scale of increase (15%) comes in the accidents caused by drunk drivers. The next biggest rise(12%) involves pedestrians carelessly crossing roads. The largest number of traffic accidents (608) was caused by drivers turning left without due care. The least number of accidents (264) was caused by drivers failing to give a signal and this number decreased by 5% from the previous year.
     A conclusion can be easily drawn that strict observance of traffic laws and regulations, by both drivers and pedestrians, is prerequisite to avoiding traffic accidents.

     上面的表格显示了2005年我国某城市的交通事故。按照事故的主要原因进行分类，一共有五类事故。与2004年相比，2005年有四类事故的数量有所增加，只有一类事故的数量略微减少，表明总体情况在恶化。
     在数量增加的四类事故中，增加幅度最大（15％）的一类事故是由司机醉驾引起的。在增加幅度次之（12％）的一类事故中，行人过马路时不小心。因司机左转弯时不小心而引起的交通事故数量最多，为608起。因司机没打灯而引起的事故数量最少，为264起，与上一年相比下降了5％。
     我们很容易就可以得出结论：要避免交通事故，司机和行人就必须严格遵守交通法律法规。
