Recently，some people raised a proposal that there should be optional courses of Shanghai dialect in primary schools and middle schools．I'm totally in favor of it because I find it beneficial in various aspects and I'd love to take the course myself．

First and foremost，the course will give students a chance to be exposed to the local culture in Shanghai．Each word，each phrase and each expression，if learned by heart，can open the door to meaningful stories and deeper profundity；thus giving us a clear picture of the customs and tradition of the city．In addition to the culture behind the dialect，communication is bound to be greatly improved．The course should make its way to the children of migrant workers in Shanghai．Through the course，they will convince themselves that they're becoming part of Shanghai and they'll be eager to make friends with local people．As for those who are originally from Shanghai，the course can be a tool to narrow the generation gap between teenagers and senior citizens．Both the young and the old can finally find common topics that they love to share．

All in all，the course of Shanghai dialect bears much more than the language itself．There's no reason not to embrace it since it can make extraordinary contributions to the harmony of our society．
