The company plans to develop, produce, and finance the film by themselves which will feature all the characters that appear in the game.
The film is expected to be released in the summer of 2016 and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, which beat out several other studios for worldwide distribution rights.
It has been reported the producer of Despicable Me will team up with Iron Man's executive producer to produce and executive produce the Angry Birds film.
Angry Birds games have been downloaded over 1.7-billion times worldwide.
No word on a plot for the film yet, but I'm guessing there's going to be lots of angry birds squawking as the fly though the air.

愤怒的小鸟是芬兰游戏开发商Rovio于2009年发行的一款游戏。游戏玩家用弹弓发射小鸟攻击绿色的“坏小猪”来营救鸟蛋。如今已成为最高付费应用程序，下载次数超过17亿。
今年3月份“愤怒的小鸟”动画系列重磅袭来。“Angry Birds Toons”动画系列是通过视频点播提供商和电视网络应用程序在世界各地发布，每周更新一集，仅发布后前六周观看次数就达1.5亿次。
Rovio首席执行官Mikael Hed称：“索尼的态度、决心和专业性打动了我们。索尼让我们相信：我们找对了帮助我们营销首部电影的合作伙伴和合作团队。”即将承担3D电影版愤怒的小鸟的索尼影视娱乐公司出产的最新电影包括《蓝精灵》和《精灵旅社》。
索尼影视娱乐公司董事长兼首席执行官Michael Lynton和副主席Amy Pascal在一份申明中称，所有电影工作室都想制作“愤怒的小鸟”，因为能让大家如此兴奋并且拥有较高品牌知名度和固定受众的东西不多。
电影《钢铁侠》的监制David Maisel和《卑鄙的我》的制片人John Cohen也将参与影片的制作，但导演和演员名单尚未公布。
