1. crushed: 心烦意乱，消沉
Listen to criticism but don't be crushed by it.（听取批评意见，但不要被它击垮。）
2. give him my word: 我对他许下了承诺，word在这里指诺言

3. keep your promise: 信守承诺

5. smug: 自鸣得意的； 自以为是的
I reckon she has good reason to feel smug.（我认为她洋洋得意必有其缘故。）
6. misread: 误解，看错
I had completely misread his intentions.（我完全误解了他的意图。）
7. rebound rate: 反弹率，这里的意思是说两人吵架后很快会和好。
8. take the easy way out: 选择最简单而非最好的方式使自己摆脱困境
