Veronica: Who? Shylock? What are you doing? Are you reading the merchant of Venice again?
谁?夏洛克?你在干嘛?在看《威尼斯商人》?
Judy: Yes. What? I like it. You can’t hate him because Shakespeare hated him.
是的。怎么了?我喜欢看。你不能因为莎士比亚讨厌他，你也就讨厌他啊。
Veronica: But only a geek likes a man who asks people for their flesh.
只有不正常的人才会喜欢那些要别人肉的人。
Judy: He is going too far about the human flesh part. But what he did was for all the Jews. They were discriminated. They couldn’t even talk loud in public. Any Christian can spit at them.
在那件事情上，他做的很过分。但是他所做的都是为了犹太人啊。他们被歧视。在公共场合都不能大声说话。任何一个基督教徒都可以朝他们吐口水。
Veronica: He is a miser. He thinks too much about money. Even his own daughter despises him.
他是一个吝啬鬼。他只想着金钱。连他的女儿都看不起他。
Judy: Every father feels bad when they know their lovely daughters have a crush on some man. It is very hard when your daughter’s hand is taken by someone else.
但知道自己的女儿喜欢上了某个男人，每个做父亲的心理都不好受。当自己女儿的手被别人牵着，这感觉很不好的。
Veronica: So if you were Antonio, you would pay him with your flesh.
所以如果你是安东尼奥，你愿意用自己的肉来偿还?
Judy: I took his money. I had to do what I had promised. Anyway, why did he go to him at the first place since everyone knew he was not a nice man? They wanted to take advantage of Shylock. Antonio was afraid of losing his wife if he was broke.
我拿了他的钱。我肯定会做我答应的事情。可是既然大家都知道他不是什么善类，为什么一开始会去找他呢?他们就想利用夏洛克。安东尼奥是担心自己破产了，他就会失去妻子。
